Automatic Bollards & Barriers Leicester
Not every access control challenge calls for a gate. Sometimes you need to manage vehicle flow rather than completely restrict it. Other times you need a physical deterrent that stops an unauthorised vehicle getting anywhere near your building. That’s where automatic barriers and bollards come in, and it’s something we’ve been installing for clients across Leicester and the surrounding area for over 20 years.
Contact usAutomatic Barriers
An automatic barrier, sometimes called a boom gate or parking gate, is one of the most practical ways to manage vehicle access to a car park, business premises or restricted area. A horizontal arm raises and lowers to allow or deny entry, and the whole thing can be tied into a wider access control system or operated as a standalone unit.
They work well for scenarios where you want to control who comes in without completely blocking the entrance. Pay and display car parks, staff only zones, retail sites, and business parks all use them regularly. The operating speed can be matched to the expected volume of traffic, and most systems handle high cycle rates without issue.
We supply and install barriers from manufacturers including CAME and FAAC, two of the most established names in the industry. Depending on your setup, entry can be managed by fob, card reader, intercom, loop detector or ticketing system.
Where Automatic Barriers Work Well
Car parks where you want to manage capacity or restrict access to permit holders are an obvious use case. But we also install barriers at the entrances to business parks, warehousing sites, schools, hospitals and private residential developments. Anywhere you need to distinguish between vehicles that should be there and those that shouldn’t.
If you’re also looking at gates for pedestrian or wider vehicle access on the same site, we can design the barrier installation to work alongside them rather than in isolation.

Automatic Bollards
Automatic bollards rise from the ground to physically block vehicle access, then retract to allow authorised vehicles through. They’re a different proposition to barriers. Where a barrier manages flow, a bollard provides serious physical protection.
The most common applications are areas where you need to prevent vehicle incursion into a pedestrian zone, protect a building entrance from ram-raid attempts, or secure a site perimeter against unauthorised access. Bollards are also used at the entrances to government buildings, town centre streets with shared pedestrian and vehicle use, and sensitive commercial or industrial locations.
Retractable bollards can be linked to access control systems so authorised users, say delivery drivers or keyholders, can lower them remotely. High security fixed or semi-automatic variants are available for applications where the threat level warrants it.
A Note on Bollard Applications
We want to be straightforward here. Bollard search results in the UK are dominated by council projects and news stories about security incidents. If you’re a business or property owner looking to install bollards for practical access control or vehicle protection, that’s exactly the kind of project we handle. Give us a call and we’ll tell you honestly whether bollards are the right fit, or whether an alternative system would do a better job for your situation.

Combining Barriers and Bollards with Access Control
Neither barriers nor bollards operate in a vacuum. The physical hardware is only part of the picture. We integrate both with the full range of access control methods, including fob and card readers, keypads, ANPR cameras, intercoms and remote management systems.
That means you can have a barrier that lifts automatically when a permitted vehicle is detected, or a bollard that lowers when the right credential is presented, without anyone needing to manually operate anything. For sites with a mix of vehicle types, access levels or operating hours, that flexibility matters.
We also offer ongoing maintenance contracts. Barriers and bollards are mechanical systems that operate in all weathers and go through thousands of cycles over their lifetime. Regular servicing keeps them working and identifies wear before it becomes a breakdown.
