Peterborough security, planned around the building

Peterborough is a city of contrasts, and so are the jobs we get asked to quote. A family home on one of the newer estates around Hampton or Great Haddon needs something quite different from a distribution unit near the A1(M) or a block of flats close to the city centre. We start with the building and how people use it, not with a product list.

Expect an honest conversation. An engineer walks the site, points out the weak spots that actually matter and gives you a clear quote. If an existing system can be repaired or extended rather than replaced, we will say so.

Burglar Alarms in Peterborough

A properly installed alarm remains one of the most effective ways to protect a property. Burglars look for easy pickings, and a bell box backed by a working system usually sends them somewhere else. We install Grade 2 systems to BS EN 50131, which suits most homes and many smaller commercial premises.

Wired or wireless?

Wired systems are hard to beat for reliability and are the natural choice when a building is being renovated or fitted out. On a newer home that is already decorated, wireless makes more sense because it goes in quickly with very little mess. We’ll recommend whichever suits the property rather than whichever is easiest for us.

Control from your phone

Most systems we install come with an app. Set or unset the alarm from wherever you are, see which zone triggered and get a notification the moment anything happens.

CCTV Systems in Peterborough

Cameras earn their keep in two ways. Visible cameras make an opportunist think twice, and when something does happen, sharp recorded footage is what the police and your insurer will ask for. Too many budget systems look the part and then produce blurry images just when they are needed.

We fit high definition IP cameras recording to a network video recorder on site, with an app so you can check in from your phone wherever you are. Large yards and car parks usually call for long range bullet cameras, while domes suit receptions, shops and offices. Poorly lit areas get cameras with genuine night vision.

Business CCTV

Peterborough has a big logistics and distribution sector, and yards, loading bays, gatehouses and perimeter fences are where most commercial systems need to be strongest. We plan camera positions around those risks and talk you through signage, because business CCTV is covered by data protection law.

Home CCTV

On a home system, the ICO’s guidance is the line to watch. Cameras that only record your own property and garden fall outside data protection law. Once they capture the pavement, a shared drive or a neighbour’s house, that law applies and you take on responsibilities. Careful positioning and privacy masking keep most homes on the right side of it.

CCTV and Alarms for Peterborough Schools

Peterborough has added a lot of new homes in recent years, and new schools have opened alongside them. Whether it is a brand new primary on one of the growing estates or an older secondary that needs bringing up to date, we fit the CCTV and intruder alarms that protect the site day and night.

Cameras go where staff can’t always be: the gates at drop off, the car park, the field boundary and the quieter corners behind the buildings. Schools are covered by UK GDPR, so we plan signage, retention and camera positions with pupil privacy in mind. Our guide to CCTV in schools covers the detail.

For multi academy trusts, remote viewing lets a site manager check every school from one app, and alarms can report to the people who need to know.

  • CCTV covering gates, entrances, car parks and boundaries
  • Cameras positioned with pupil privacy in mind
  • Intruder alarms protecting the site out of hours
  • Remote viewing for the site team
  • Work booked around term time

Access control and gates from one company

We also install access control, door entry, automatic gates and barriers across Peterborough. The same fob can open the barrier and the staff entrance, and a camera on the gate lets you see who is waiting before you let them in.

Alarm and CCTV servicing in Peterborough

Cameras get knocked out of position, alarm batteries fade and detectors stop doing their job. We service and repair alarms and CCTV across Peterborough, including systems another installer put in. A yearly check costs far less than discovering a fault after a burglary.

How a Peterborough installation works

  1. Site survey

An engineer visits, looks over the property and listens to what is worrying you.

  2. Written quote

Every item listed, with where it goes and what it costs. No vague line items.

  3. Installation

Booked at a time that suits you, with commercial work planned around your hours.

  4. Handover

We show you how it all works, set up the apps and stay on hand afterwards.

Security systems in Peterborough: your questions answered

How much does a CCTV system cost in Peterborough?

Price depends on how many cameras you need, how far the cables have to run, how much recording you want to keep and the camera specification. A couple of cameras on a house is a very different job from covering a warehouse yard. After a site visit we give you a fixed written quote, so there are no surprises.

Will my home CCTV break data protection rules?

Not if it only records your own property. Cameras that capture the street, a shared space or next door bring data protection law into play, and you would need to handle things like requests for footage, which usually have to be answered within one calendar month. We position cameras to avoid that wherever we can.

Can you take over a system another company installed?

In most cases, yes. We can service it, repair it and often extend it. If the equipment is too old or no longer supported, we will tell you straight and explain the options.

What grade of alarm do I need?

Most homes and many small businesses are well served by a Grade 2 system. Higher risk commercial premises, or those with specific insurance conditions, may need Grade 3. Check what your insurer asks for and we will specify the system to match.

Can I check my cameras and alarm from my phone?

Yes. The CCTV systems and alarms we fit come with apps, so you can watch live footage, play back recordings and set or unset the alarm wherever you are. We set it all up on your phone at handover.

Do you cover Stamford and Market Deeping?

We do. Alongside Peterborough itself we cover Stamford, Market Deeping, Whittlesey, Yaxley, Oundle and the surrounding villages.

Do you install CCTV and alarms for Peterborough schools?

Yes. We fit CCTV and intruder alarms for primaries, secondaries and academy trusts around Peterborough, with cameras positioned to protect pupil privacy and installation booked around term time.
