Coventry Security Systems

Access Control Solutions designs, installs and maintains burglar alarms and CCTV for homes and businesses across Coventry. We have been doing this for over 20 years. Our base in Leicester is less than an hour down the M69, so getting an engineer to you is never a problem. If you want a straight answer on what your property actually needs, give us a call.

Security that suits the property, not the brochure

No two Coventry jobs are the same. A terraced house in Earlsdon has very little in common with a warehouse at Prologis Park, and the equipment we recommend reflects that. Some clients need a couple of cameras watching the driveway. Others want an alarm on every floor and cameras good enough to pick out a face at the gate after dark.

What we won’t do is sell you more than you need. An engineer comes out, walks the site with you and looks at where the genuine weak spots are. Then we put together a quote that makes sense. Sometimes that means telling someone their existing system only needs a service, and we would rather do that than replace kit that still works.

Burglar Alarms in Coventry

An alarm is still one of the best deterrents money can buy. Burglars want an easy target, and a visible bell box backed by a system that actually works tends to send them elsewhere.

Wired or wireless?

Both have their place. Wired alarms are extremely reliable and make sense in new builds, during renovations and in commercial premises where cabling can be run neatly. Wireless systems go in much faster with far less disruption, which is why they are so popular in finished homes where nobody wants carpets pulled up. We’ll tell you honestly which suits your building.

Alerts straight to your phone

Most of the alarms we fit now come with an app, so you can set and unset the system remotely and get a notification the moment something triggers. Away for the weekend? You will know straight away if anything happens at home.

CCTV Systems in Coventry

A good CCTV system does two jobs. It puts people off trying in the first place, and if something does happen it gives you footage clear enough to be useful to the police and your insurer. Plenty of cheap systems manage the first part and fail badly at the second.

We install high definition IP camera systems from manufacturers including Dahua, recording to a network video recorder on site with remote viewing through an app on your phone. Camera choice depends on the view you need. A wide angle dome works well over a shop floor, whereas a long range bullet camera suits a car park or a yard. Where lighting is poor, we specify cameras with proper night vision rather than hoping a security light does the job.

Business CCTV

For commercial sites, think about what you would want to see if you had to review an incident tomorrow morning. Entrances, exits, tills, loading bays and vehicle gates are the usual priorities. Business CCTV is covered by data protection law, so we will talk you through signage and where cameras should and shouldn’t point while we plan the system.

Home CCTV

The Information Commissioner’s Office takes a fairly simple line on home cameras. If they only capture your own property, garden included, data protection law doesn’t apply. Once they record beyond your boundary, onto the street, a shared drive or next door’s garden, it does, and you take on some responsibilities as a result. We position cameras and use privacy masking to keep you on the right side of that line wherever we can.

CCTV and Alarms for Coventry Schools

Schools are a big part of our work in Coventry, from small primaries to large academies. Cameras on the gates, car parks and boundaries give staff eyes on the parts of the site they can’t supervise, and an intruder alarm protects the buildings once everyone has gone home.

Pupil privacy shapes every school system we design. Schools fall under UK GDPR, so cameras need a clear purpose, visible signage and sensible retention, and they should stay well away from toilets and changing areas. Our guide to CCTV in schools explains the rules in more detail.

Installation is planned around the school calendar. Most of the noisy work happens in the holidays or after hours, so lessons carry on as normal.

  • CCTV covering gates, entrances, car parks and boundaries
  • Cameras positioned with pupil privacy in mind
  • Intruder alarms protecting the site out of hours
  • Remote viewing for the site team
  • Work booked around term time

Access control and gates from the same team

We also install access control, door entry, automatic gates and barriers in Coventry, so your systems can be designed to work together. A fob that opens the car park barrier can also open the office door, and there is only one number to ring when something needs attention.

Alarm and CCTV servicing in Coventry

Security systems need looking after. Cameras drift out of focus, alarm batteries wear out and detectors get knocked out of line. We service and repair alarms and CCTV throughout Coventry, and we are happy to look at equipment another company installed. Regular maintenance is far cheaper than finding out your cameras stopped recording the week you needed them.

Where we work in and around Coventry

Our engineers cover the whole city, from Earlsdon, Chapelfields and Allesley in the west across to Binley, Walsgrave and Wyken in the east, and from Foleshill and Holbrooks in the north down to Cheylesmore, Whitley and Finham. We also look after commercial sites on Westwood Business Park, Coventry Business Park, Ansty Park and Prologis Park.

Beyond the city boundary, we work in Kenilworth, Bedworth, Nuneaton, Rugby and Hinckley, plus the villages in between. If you are not sure whether we cover your postcode, just ask. The answer is almost always yes.

How a security installation works

  1. Site survey

One of our engineers visits, looks over the property and talks through what is worrying you. It is the most useful half hour of the whole process.

  2. Your quote

You get a clear written quote showing the equipment, where each item goes and what it costs. No vague line items and no surprises later.

  3. Installation

Smaller domestic jobs are often finished in a day. Larger commercial installs are planned around your working hours so the business keeps running while we work.

  4. Handover and aftercare

Before we leave, we show you how everything works and make sure the apps are set up on your phone. After that, we are on the end of the phone whenever you need us.

Security systems in Coventry: your questions answered

How much does CCTV installation cost in Coventry?

It depends on the number of cameras, the length of the cable runs, how much footage you want to store and the camera specification. A two camera home system and a 16 camera warehouse system are very different jobs. We give a fixed written quote after a site visit, so you know exactly where you stand before any work starts.

Do I need permission to put CCTV cameras on my house?

Data protection law only applies if your cameras capture images beyond your own property. If they cover the street, a shared space or a neighbour’s home, you will need to follow rules such as responding to requests for footage, which usually have to be answered within one calendar month. We position cameras to avoid that wherever possible.

Can you upgrade or add to my existing security system?

Usually, yes. We can often add cameras to an existing recorder, extend an alarm with extra sensors or bring more doors onto an access control system. If the existing equipment is too old to work with, we will tell you rather than bolt new kit onto a weak foundation.

Is a wireless alarm as good as a wired one?

A good quality wireless alarm, professionally installed, is a very reliable option for most homes. Wired systems still make sense in larger commercial buildings and properties being renovated. The right choice depends on the building, and we’ll recommend whichever genuinely suits yours.

Can I set my alarm from my phone?

Yes. Most of the alarms we fit now come with an app, so you can set and unset the system from anywhere and get an alert the moment something triggers. We set the app up on your phone before we leave.

Do you cover Nuneaton, Kenilworth and Rugby?

We do. Alongside Coventry itself, we regularly travel to Nuneaton, Bedworth, Kenilworth, Rugby and Hinckley, along with the surrounding villages.

Do you install CCTV and alarms in Coventry schools?

Yes, and schools make up a large part of our work. We fit CCTV and intruder alarms for primary and secondary schools and academies across Coventry, position cameras with pupil privacy in mind, and plan installation work around term dates so lessons are not disrupted.
