Access Control Nottingham
Access Control Solutions installs, services and repairs access control, door entry systems, automatic gates, car park barriers, bollards and automatic doors across Nottingham. We have more than 20 years in the trade and are approved installers for Paxton, Came, FAAC and BFT, so we can look after the front door, the car park and the gate on the drive.
Access Control Systems in Nottingham
Every key that walks out of the building with a former employee is a problem you cannot see. Access control swaps keys for fobs, cards or codes, and switching one off takes seconds.

Fob, card and keypad access
We fit single keypad doors right up to Paxton Net2 systems across offices, shops and multiple buildings. You can see who used each door and when, set access by person or time, and update everything from a PC.

One system for doors, gates and barriers
Offices and warehouses around the city often have a front door, a staff entrance, a barrier and a yard gate. A networked system puts them all on one set of fobs, so staff carry one credential and you manage the lot from one screen.

Automatic Gates in Nottingham
Electric gates are as much about convenience as security. They keep children and pets in, keep unwanted visitors out and save you getting out of the car in the rain. Because a powered gate can cause serious injury if it is badly set up, design and safety come first on every job.

Swing gates
Popular on driveways, with arms on the posts or motors hidden underground. Slope and space behind the gate decide which way they open.

Sliding gates
Ideal for wide entrances and drives where there is no room for gates to swing.

Ways to open your gates
Remote fobs, keypads, proximity tags, intercoms and phone apps, chosen to suit who uses the gate and how often.
Barriers and Bollards in Nottingham
Commercial entrances take far more traffic than a home driveway, so durability and control matter most.
Car park barriers
A quick, reliable way to control a car park or service yard, worked by fobs, keypads, intercoms or your access control system.
Bollards
Fixed, removable, telescopic and automatic rising bollards for shopfronts, pedestrian areas and reserved parking.

Automatic Doors in Nottingham
We install automatic sliding and swing doors for shops, surgeries, offices and public buildings in Nottingham. They make entrances easier for everyone, from wheelchair users to people carrying deliveries, and suitable existing swing doors can often be automated without replacing them.
Door Entry Systems in Nottingham
Nottingham has two big universities and a huge rental market, and a reliable door entry panel is what keeps shared buildings secure. We install audio and video intercoms from Videx, BPT, Bell and Urmet for flats, offices and gated homes, including systems residents can answer on their phone.

Access Control and Gates for Nottingham Schools
Most school security starts at the front door. The Department for Education’s school security guidance says visitors should sign in at reception and not wander the site, and a video entry panel with release from the office makes that simple. Behind it, staff fobs can be cancelled the day someone leaves.
At the gate, we keep children on foot apart from cars and minibuses, with a separate pedestrian gate and vehicle gates that open around drop off and pick up.
Martyn’s Law is coming too. Schools where 200 or more people can be expected on site at once will need evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication procedures under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, with the duties starting no earlier than April 2027. Access control that can lock controlled doors from one point is a practical first step.
- Door entry with release from reception
- Staff fobs, cancelled the day someone leaves
- Controlled doors locked down from a single point
- Separate pedestrian gates, away from vehicle routes
- Safety edges, photocells and force testing as standard

Gate safety and the standards we work to
This is the part that matters most, and it is the part cheaper installers sometimes skip. Powered gates and barriers fall under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, the recognised safety standard is BS EN 12453, and the DHF TS 011 code of practice sets out how they should be designed, installed and maintained.
Already have electric gates without safety edges or photocells? Please get them checked. We can bring existing gates up to the current standard.
- Risk assessment for every installation
- Safety edges and photocells that stop and reverse the gate
- Force testing with calibrated equipment
- Safety documentation at handover
Do electric gates need planning permission in Nottingham?
Often not, but height and position decide it. Next to a road used by vehicles, including the pavement, a new gate can be up to one metre high without planning permission. Anywhere else the limit is two metres. Listed buildings and some conservation areas are treated differently.
Most front driveway gates are taller than a metre, so check with Nottingham City Council or your borough council before you commit.
Access control and gate repairs in Nottingham
Readers wear out on busy doors, gate motors tire and photocells get knocked out of line. Regular servicing keeps everything safe and reliable, and it costs far less than an emergency call out. We repair most major brands, including systems we did not fit.
Alarms and CCTV from the same team
Because we also install burglar alarms and CCTV, your gates and doors can be part of one system, with a camera on the entrance so you know who is there before you open up.
Areas we cover around Nottingham
We install access control, door entry and gates all over Nottingham, including West Bridgford, Beeston, Wollaton, Arnold, Mapperley and Sherwood, plus offices and apartment blocks in the city centre and the Lace Market.
Outside the city we cover Hucknall, Ruddington, Keyworth, Bingham and Long Eaton.

What our customers say
Access control in Nottingham: your questions answered
How much does access control cost in Nottingham?
It depends on how many doors you want to control, the locks they need and whether a standalone keypad will do or you want a networked system. We give a fixed written quote after a site visit.
Can staff use one fob for every door?
Yes. With a networked system each person gets one fob or card, and you decide which doors and times it works for. Access can be changed or cancelled from a PC.
Do you install door entry systems for student flats?
Yes. We fit audio and video door entry panels for student blocks, HMOs and apartment buildings across Nottingham, and we repair and upgrade older systems too.
How much do electric gates cost in Nottingham?
Size, material, swing or slide, motor type, groundwork and how you want to open the gate all affect the price. We quote after a site visit, and the figure we give is the figure you pay.
Can my existing gates be automated?
Often, yes, provided the gates, posts and hinges are sound. If they are too heavy or have dropped, we will tell you whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
What happens to electric gates in a power cut?
Every gate we install has a manual release, so you are never stuck. Battery backup can keep many systems running for a while without mains power.
Do you fit barriers for offices and car parks?
Yes. We install rising arm barriers for office car parks, residential developments and service yards, usually worked by fobs or an intercom.
